I have played Smash and Pokémon for as long as I can remember and I do not see any reason to have Pichu in the roster still. The only reason Pichu was in Melee is because of a movie that came out more than two decades ago. Pikachu, Puff, Mewtwo, Pokémon Trainer, and Lucario is more than enough to represent both Pokémon and their history in Smash. Even Incineroar and Greninja feel very “why?” to me. I’d much rather see Ryu from Ninja Gaiden in their place.

Animal Crossing New Horizon seems to have gone the way of the Sims 4, removing all the depth and charm from the game and replacing it with (admittedly impressive) customization options

I don't think there was mandates in the first place, a lot these supposed mandates originate from people speculations. For example the Daisy one people just assume since she wasn't solely made by Nintendo that she only would appear in spin-off content. The same goes for Waluigi, I don't think there is really an actual dislike but that there isn't much of a reason to use him outside of the games he shows up in. We know Waluigi's motives and how it's more focused on besting Luigi in Sports, Party, and Karting events. We also know Waluigi is not Wario's brother, related, or even his friend and is mostly a sports partner. In addition to him not seeming to be friends with the others or adventurer type, it makes sense why he doesn't show up. Nintendo isn't beyond referencing him in games. With that being said it's not like it's "spin-off" thing either. We see Wario show up in SM64DS, and the Ice Flower from PIT show up in NSMBWII and beyond. Even the Mini and Mega Mushroom come from a Party game. The character design one, it's based on a vague statement that never explained what was meant by it. Further making less sense when Intelligent Systems confirmed they had full creative control, and contradicted by them making original characters and mixing up the designs even if barely.. And even if there was one Nintendo has abandoned it long ago with Tour and Odyssey being prime examples. Personally while I get people trying to separate what they consider "mainline and spin off games," I mostly dislike and reject it. This is because people can't ever agree what is and isn't a mainline game. In addition to this distinction often being used to downgrade anything not labeled a "mainline game." In addition to people trying to throw out said games from the canon. I think characters show up in games where there is some sense. Daisy shows up in sports, karting, and party events because most anyone can attend, in addition her not showing up in other games because she's either off doing her own thing as a Princess or not getting kidnapped. Daisy makes sense in Super Mario Wonder given the opening' details. Similar to how Donkey Kong is busy on the Kong Archipelago and Wario is off in Diamond City doing his own thing. Or how unless Bowser pulls a Lost Levels and does another Odyssey we probably won't see Cappy outside of cameos and sports games. Meanwhile the Yoshi's make sense because one is Mario's buddy, and the rest alongside that one live in Mushroom Kingdom. Blue, Red, and Yellow Toad alongside Toadette make sense cause they also live in the Mushroom Kingdom. Nabbit makes sense because he's keeping tabs on Mario and Friends. etc etc

I’m gonna be honest. The perfect way to make a new cast for smash would be just removing one of links clones and remove pichu. Aint nobody gonna play pichu he’s just the worse version of pikachu. Also add sans as his own character and boom, the perfect smash game. Also why the hell did you remove every good Pokémon character, aint nobody care about jigglypuff remove her and add Pokémon trainer and Lucario. This is the least perfect cut video I’ve ever seen you completely fucked up the Pokémon series characters

I know Jigglypuff is iconic and an OG but I really think cutting her out for Palutena would be so much better. Either that or Yoshi, since there's a clear Mario bias here. Maybe I'm just a sad Kid Icarus fan about this but her gameplay is more unique than Yoshi's at least and just from a series rep standpoint it'd be more balanced.

cut bayo snake and terry bayo only came to the series from smash 4 dlc and is a pain to fight against and not very fun to play as terry is just one more unnecessary shoto that does not need to be in the next game where the theme is not specifically "everyone is here" snake was the most unexpected brawl character that never collected a massive audience worth a half cut roster keep diddy because of unequal representation of that series for how big it is and keep meta knight for obvious reasons these extra cuts leaves some wiggle room for one of the more vital characters to be saved that i cant really tell right now

Great vid and finding it very hard to disagree… but I do in one very important way. For context, we went from 8 FE characters to 2 FE characters. Not that big of a deal, until you consider we went from (1) THE swordfighter, (2) a rushdown swordfight, (3) heavyweight/bruiser swordfighter, (4) mage, (5) multi-weapon showcase, and (6) dragon to (1) THE swordfighter and (2) the swordfighter’s clone. I don’t want to sound dramatic, but that is near inexcusable. Lucina serves two potential purposes: represent Awakening and represent modern FE. She is vastly outclassed in both of those categories by Robin and Byleth, respectively. Any, and I really do mean any, other FE character would be better as the second franchise rep than Lucina. Also, crazy to me that Dark Pit outlasted Min Min, G&W, and Little Mac… and somehow wasn’t included in the final two while Pit was. Did you forget about him? He’s in the graphic. If you did, please bring Little Mac back.
